Happy Birthday Nana!

Happy Birthday to Julia's Grandma (and my mom!) We hope you have wonderful day. We're so grateful for all you do for us through the year -- what a big help you've been with Miss Julia. And she sure does love her Nana.

P.S. Happy Birthday to Miss Allison who turns two today! We hope you like the Belly Button Book. It's one of our favorites!

Pink and brown

My favorite color combination... and can't you see why? How cute is this?
We got good news this week. Julia's test results came back OK! What a horrible day that was.... She will have to get one more ultrasound, but those aren't painful, so everything looks good. Whew.

A week in the life

It's been a while since I've posted any pics of my cutie girl! I'm a bad mama, I know. But it's been hectic around here. So hopefully this will make up for it! We went to lunch at Goombay's Sunday with friends Jason, Cara and Cara's cutie girl, Anja. A good time, until Julia needed a nap!

Here's evidence of the home destruction I wrote about before. hehehe. This is Julia joyfully yanking down CDs by the dozen. This morning, I counted 20 on the floor!

And this week..... we tried spaghetti! Julia wasn't a huge fan at first. I think it's the texture of the noodles. She made some great ick faces. And as you can see, it was super messy!

I just love this pic. Julia stood in the window watching Mike working outside, putting chemicals in the pool and cutting the grass. She was so cute. She stood there for such a long time. Couldn't take her eyes off Dada!

And the last one.... I think I could have a girly girl on my hands. She had such a good time going through all my nail polish. This provided a good half an hour of entertainment. I think she likes pink the best.

Anyway, we'll be taking Julia to the hospital this week, as an outpatient thankfully, for some tests. It won't be a good day for any of us. But hopefully we'll get some good news that our sweet girl is all better and won't have to have surgery to make sure she's not going to keep getting UTIs.

Beatles song

Has anyone heard the Beatles song called "Julia"? Ahhh, I just love it. It's so beautiful. We listen to it all the time when we're playing on the floor in Julia's room. It still gets me every time. But it's funny now that she recognizes her name, she sort of looks at the stereo like "Who is calling me?"
Anyway, I was just reading that it was written by John Lennon, for his mom, Julia. He recorded this by himself. He did it completely live with an acoustic guitar and occasional overdubs on the vocals. It is the only song he did completely on his own during his time with The Beatles.
Check out the sweet lyrics:

Half of what I say is meaningless
But I say it just to reach you, Julia

Julia, Julia, oceanchild calls me
So I sing a song of love, Julia
Julia, seashell eyes, windy smile, calls me
So I sing a song of love, Julia

Her hair of floating sky is shimmering, glimmering
In the sun

Julia, Julia, morning moon, touch me
So I sing a song of love, Julia

When I cannot sing my heart
I can only speak my mind, Julia

Julia, sleeping sand, silent cloud, touch me
So I sing a song of love, Julia
Hum hum hum hum... calls me
So I sing a song of love for Julia, Julia, Julia

Play date

Julia had her very first play date this week! So fun. My friend Suzanne brought her 5-month-old, Landon, over for lunch. Julia had never been around another baby before so she was very interested in who this small being was in her house. Landon is such a cutie, and quite the smiler. Julia patted him on the head. I think they may have been smitten -- that is until Julia crawled over top of him and ran off with his his toy. We'll have to work on her people skills -- hehe.
